This is very useful in order to determine the popularity of your website and to track who's linking you.

TIPS
yourdomain.com / www.yourdomain.com may not have the same number of backlinks (it all depends on what the websites linking to you had used).
So try to search both these URLs, as well as any other subdomain you might have.
